Life & Events > What Whould You Do?

Good afternoon, and welcome to hump day.
We all know that the cost of food has gone way high.
Surely, that the seniors are having a hard time.
What to do,spend on my medicine and give up on my food?
More tend to do the later.
Well, you are wondering where this story is going.
This morning, while food shopping at one of the local market.
This is not the first time that it happened and seen this
many times over.
Notice the increased on seniors shoplifting.
Mind you,not big but small.
This one man was taking a couple of candy bars and putting
in his pocket. He saw me and just kept on.
Now the question here, what would you do?
Not sure how many candy bars that he took, but the sad part
as I looked at the man,is he having a wholesome meal?
I did not say any thing to the manager and would not.
Why?well I am not sure.
First, should have approach the person and offer to pay for
what he took. But think that would probably insult him.
I have seen this over and over again.
Many older seniors are shoplifting for food etc.
Not sure if any one ever get caught, for have not read or
heard about anything.
This upset me some, why is this happening?
Well, lets hope that Obama or Hillary do something to help
out these people.
The question:? what would you have done.
Thank you for listening.

This is so tragic!  It sounds like he is having a tough time.  I would try and do what I could for him.  Perhaps you could look into somehow making some sort of credit for him at the store.

He was one of these guys, who had a huge overcoat on.

I did not follow him around to see what else that he would take.

When I saw him, just a couple of candy bars. This I know that he was

feeling somewhat hungry.Next time, maybe go up to the person and

talk with him.Tostrike up a conversation and go from there.

I would have said nothing.  His huge overcoat was probably full of food.  Your right about striking up a conversation and going from there.  Food stamps are only available to people who have almost no money.  I know a person who gets only 500 dollars a month and she is only eligible for ten dollars in food stamps.

I wouldn't have said anything to anyone, either.  It's a shame how expensive food is getting.  Vegetables are horribly expensive!  My mother (she's in her mid-70s) has tried to acquire food stamps but has been denied because of her income.  Funny, that, seeing that she barely can afford to pay her bills!  I would probably have tried to buy him something substantial and meet him in the parking lot, strike up a conversation with him from there and hopefully encourage him to accept my gift.
